Additional Resources

In working with a variety of partners, CVET has developed additional resources to meet the needs of animal and veterinary responders. These materials are geared towards those involved in animal disaster response (animal services, disaster volunteers, veterinary professionals, etc.) to enhance the knowledge and readiness of responders. These resources are freely accessible and are encouraged to be shared with others. Needing additional resources that you don’t see here? Email us at cvet@ucdavis.edu!

  • CVET-ADE Triage Training
  • CVET partnered with the Animal Disaster Education (ADE) Foundation based out of the Netherlands to enhance the ADE online triage training game with the addition of an updated triage protocol and small animal scenarios. This joint effort combined ADE’s research into existing triage protocols based on human disaster response operations with the field experience of animal responders and veterinarians, resulting in an online game that animal personnel and first responders can play to learn the triage protocol and prepare them for real world scenarios.

  • GRAZE Mental Health Awareness Training
  • CVET partnered with Growing Resiliency for Aquarium and Zoo Employees (GRAZE), professionals focused on providing mental health support to the zoo community, to build the CVET Mental Health Awareness Training Program for CVET responders. The veterinary industry is already mentally taxing, and the additional stressors of disaster response make CVET and other animal responders more susceptible to mental health impacts. This collaborative effort resulted in a free online training and workbook to prepare responders for deployment, learning how to recognize when there is a need for self-care during difficult times.
