Partnering for Resilience
Last week the CVET team met with members of the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT). Cal OES IMAT is a deployable team of emergency management professionals that assists local governments and coordinates the State’s response during major disasters.
Like CVET, IMAT can be requested by local jurisdictions when resources are exhausted or overwhelmed. IMAT members were provided a tour of CVET trailers, mobile medical platforms, and other resources that can be mobilized during a CVET response, allowing IMAT members to better understand CVET’s capabilities. The teams spent the remainder of the afternoon discussing and collaborating on best practices in the disaster response space, lessons learned in previous response operations, and how both teams can learn from one another and collaborate on future opportunities.
This outreach and educational effort between CVET and IMAT is a perfect example of the alliance of the University of California, Davis, and Cal OES to address the needs of California communities during disasters.
