California CART Collective (CCC) Summit

CVET co-hosted the annual California CART Collective (CCC) Summit here on campus this week. The two-day summit included representatives from various Community Animal Response Teams (CART), California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), and California Animal Welfare Association (Cal Animals). The conference included networking events, roundtable discussions, small group exercises, and expert talks.
CARTs play a vital role in animal disaster response operations. CARTs have a wide breadth of responsibilities and capabilities that are often unique to each individual CART, but CARTs are often relied upon to supplement animal services in animal evacuation, search and rescue, and shelter-in-place care. The summit provided an opportunity for CVET to learn more CART operations as well as the many challenges CARTs face.
